Rose Omari obtained a MPhil Degree in Food Science from the University of Ghana in 2001. Currently she is pursuing a PHD in Social Sciences at Wageningen University CTC group. I am interested in social, regulatory and policy aspects of food from production to consumption, and socioeconomic and consumer research.

Research:

Transformation of food production in Ghana: The emergence of global food chains

The globalized fast food business is a buoyant one in Ghana. It offers some advantages and disadvantages in terms of socio-economics, socio-culture, food security and sovereignty, and health. This PhD research determines the extent of penetration, structure, nature and characteristics of globalized fast food chains, the extent of use of local natural and social resources in the chains, their influence on science and technology development activities, and their impact on food consumption pattern, food sovereignty, food security and health.
