Research
The research programme developed during his academic career is ‘The body between social practices and cultural changes: food, communication and symbolic integrity’. The focus of this programme is the analysis of the disembedding processes affecting the symbolical centrality of body in contemporary society. He concentrated in studying narrative strategies in food advertising and the growing anxiety about agro-biotechnologies and eating practises in modern society.
Giving continuity to this programme, the Phd research project is on ‘The emergence of an orthorexic society as a specific junction of technological, food and communicative developments’, exploring the uprooting processes affecting food and separating eating practises by social and communicative matrix. The project aims to investigate which kind of exit strategy we can think in order to contain the broad diffusion of alimentary anxieties in western modern societies (orthorexic society).
